Fashion changes, Home Decor follows suit!

Fall fashions are changing and just coming into our lives. Bedding and Fall decor are changing too. We are seeing soft colors with wild accents or at least colorful pillows and curtains to dress up a room, especially the bedroom. We are just getting all our new fall lines and are going out with the old. Try pale yellow with browns and taupes with a hint of lime green or bright blue and some wild pinks.

I am so excited to show the new colors and trends to you. So hope to be all finished in about a week. In the meantime visualize this bed set in black and white sitting in front of a wall painted flat black. The furniture painted black also makes the room perfect for Crystal lights or frosted glass. Dream about your perfect room, so clean and fresh.

Watch for our new line of fabulous bedding.

Bedding for the Dorm

September is fast approaching and it's time to think of bedding for the Dorm. Sheet sets now come in Twin Extra Long as well as the regular length in Egyptian cotton. Egyptian cotton washes well and is very soft and silky to sleep on, so is a good choice for the Dorm bed. A bed in a bag is another good choice for your dorm room as the colors are nice and will add a cheery touch to your room away from home. A bed in a bag comes with an alternate down comforter the whole set is easy wash and dry. Add a couple of wild pillow shams and you are all set to start to get back to your studies.

Sateen Sheets in Egyptian Cotton

The term Sateen sheets can be misleading, as it can be mistaken for Satin. Sateen is a weaving process that produces a satiny type weave and is usually woven in an all over or a striped effect. These are very smooth and satiny but will not last as long as your regular weave sheets. Do Not be misled by the term Sateen or Satin as both are weaves in fabrics, and can be cotton, silk, or a synthetic fiber. Sheets are usually made from mercerized cotton which has been treated with sodium to make them shiny.
You will find Sateen in Egyptian cotton sheet sets and bed in a bag sets or duvet cover sets. Any bedding that you choose in Sateen you will just love, try them and see for yourself.

3 Super Hints to keep the Washing Machine clean.

These handy tips came from the dryer repair guy. Who would have thought he would have such good hints for laundry and washing machine.
Cleaning the Washing Machine:
* 2 teaspoons Lavender in warm wash cycle. This deals with residue that builds up in the machine.
* Then follow up with a gallon of white vinegar in a warm wash cycle, do this every 3 to 4 years.
* Natural detergents act like fertilizer so you will need to do this cleaning more often.

Amount of Soap:
* Correct amount of laundry solution to use depends on our location, if soft water in costal areas use only 1/4 of the recommended amount. Harder water areas use double the soft water area. I find the box says way more than you need to use.

Laundry Loads:
* Sort by fabric weight rather than colors, this gives a better cleaning. Laundry soap companies want you to sort by color and laundry machine companies want you to sort by weight. The best washes are sorted by fabric weight as you get a better spin with the machine and thus a better wash.

The clothes Dryer has a History.

When you are drying your clothes in your beautiful clothes dryer, do you ever wonder how this wonderful invention ever came about. Maybe it was out of necessity, maybe people got sick of draping their laundry on rocks, hung on tree branches and finally strung out on a line to try and dry the clothes or sheets and pillowcases without having them fly in the dirt before they were ever dry.

It seems that a French man named Ponchon developed the first dryer in 1799. It tumbled clothes etc. as it turned over a fire, with a crank handle. I wonder how many clothes and pillowcases or sheets just burnt up in the process. You sure wouldn't want to put your pants on right out of the dryer!!!
Several other tumble dryers were developed before the 1950 clothes dryer emerged that actually looked like our modern day dryer.
In the 1890's an elaborate rack dryer was developed that sat on top of the wood stove. It wasn't until later around 1915 that the first electric dryer came into use.

Clothes drying technology has grown in leaps and bounds since then to the beautiful ultra modern machines we have today. But no matter what dryer we come up with, there will never be a duplication of the wonderful smell of clothes and sheets and pillowcases that are dried in the sun and the wind.
Here is my challenge for today: Go to www.sheerheavenluxurybedding.com and buy a nice sheet set in Organic or pure 100% Egyptian cotton wash it and hang outside on a line so the wind can blow it dry and put it on the bed and enjoy the wonderful eco friendly feeling and smell. You won't easily forget this experience.
